From the recording Tall Tree
Blaine McIntyre sang this for me one night while we were song swapping in his living room. He told me that he and Ian Tyson co-wrote this and the song was originally set in Lordsburg, NM. There was a long discussion as to whether the sky could be "a mix of oil and pastel or not,' and as they worked on the song, they agreed to move the story to Tucson on Miracle Mile. The Miracle Mile of Desert Motel is not the Miracle Mile Tucson residents know now, but the Miracle Mile of the 1930's and Tucson Rodeo Days.
I loved this song instantly and had to record it. I am happy to say my version was approved by both Ian and Blaine.
